Hello, our name is Arbor Lights and we have been making a racket in our home town of Birmingham since 2010. We’re Greg, Alex, Matt and James and we stole our name from the pub where we met. We self-released our first single On A Sea in 2011, and a self-titled EP in 2012. Since then we have gigged around Birmingham (and occasionally further afield) with too many amazing bands to name.
Our debut album, Hatherton Lake, is another self-funded labour of love: forty minutes over five sprawling songs, recorded over the last six months with long-time friend and collaborator Michael Clarke. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved: expansive, washed out guitars colliding with pounding drums and dub-infused basslines. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoy playing it.
Along the way we picked up some kind words like these:
“Arbor Lights excel at clear-cut sounds, defining a warmth in their music that will get your feet tapping within the first bars of each track. A band to watch out for.”
– Oxide Tones
“Stonking…Slow-burning melodies, that evolve into an intense, heady climax are what this band seems to do best, have a listen, it’s great.”
– Scene Not Herd
“Arbor Lights have a great sound and have made their debut with an excellently realised set of cracking tunes that can only serve to propel them further onto the radar…Give it a spin.”
